Make sure you don't have DS4Windows running at the time, only start it after DS4 natively connects to your OS (you will see a faint blue light blink a few times, then become a steady glow). You just have to press the PS button once your OS boots. Note that if you want to connect DS4 by Bluetooth, you don't have to re-pair it every time you reboot. Tweak any other settings to your liking if you want (low charge or high latency alarms etc)Īfter this initial setup you always have to connect the controller natively first, then run DS4Windows, then Steam for everything to work without issues.Run DS4Windows, check 'Hide Controller'.Install the driver (only the first one, don't install 360 controller driver).Since SOTFS has a problem with natively connected DS4 (garbled buttons and camera rotating permanently) and I haven't found a good guide online, I decided to write one myself after going through all the trouble and being able to play reliably. All fan-art must be OC only. I downloaded Microsoft's controller driver. I have the SCPServer stuff, but I don't know what to do with anything in the folder. OR just use an actual X360/Xbox One controller and be done with it :) I have downloaded the newest version of DS4Windows, Inputmapper. Just checking the box makes every single problem I had go away. Just copy the EXE into the folder where the original EXE is and choose to overwrite it when prompted. If you have DS4Windows (better version from DS4Tool) you can select Hide DS4 Controller under Settings. I would also update the version of Zadig included with the package you download from here. I tried using DS4 Windows/Input Mapper myself and that is the issue I ran into, but the tool below is what I was using prior to those and use now.īe sure to carefully read everything in the posts from Scarlett Crush. It's what I use and I'm running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit. Both DS4 Windows and Input Mapper used this utility as a base for their development. I would suggest uninstalling DS4 Windows/Input Mapper (or any other wrapper you might be using) and then use the tool linked below. Like many other Ps4 owners, I typically use Ds4 so that I can use a familiar controller when playing my favorite games. However, because they do not include a Direct Input profile for those games, you'd have to manually configure the inputs from within Windows in order for the controller to work correctly with Direct Input. Both the original Dark Souls and Dark Souls 2 recognize the first connected device, so that's why you get the spinning camera and mostly non-functioning inputs the game is defaulting to the Direct Input device since both games technically support Direct Input. Unfortunately Windows 10 doesn't allow the "Exclusive/Hide DS4" function to work. I'm guessing your are using Windows 10 and using DS4 Windows or Input Mapper as your Xinput wrapper. You'll see a generic wireless controller and an Xbox 360 Controller. You will see this if you go to your Devices & Printers. The initial driver for the Dual Shock recognizes it as a Direct Input Device (since Sony doesn't have an official PC driver) and then whatever Xinput wrapper you are using allows Windows to see it as an Xbox 360 Controller. If that is the case, remove it, if not, it's the first issue. It's because a Dual Shock controller is recognized as being two separate devices or you have an actual second controller connected and it is the default device.
